Animal Shelter Seeks Foster Providers

March is "Become a Foster Parent" month.

The Fairfax County Animal Shelter is looking for foster care volunteers to house animals in need of homes.

Foster care providers provide temporary care to animals that would otherwise be housed at the shelter. The shelter provides training, supplies, and medical care  for the pets.

Between 300 and 400 animals each year are placed into foster care, according to the shelter.

In honor of “Become a Foster Parent” month in March, the shelter is hosting an orientation session for those interested in becoming foster care providers. The session will be on March 6 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the shelter located at 4500 West Ox Rd. To attend, citizens should RSVP to kathleen.cornell@fairfaxcounty.gov.

The Fairfax County government website's animals section, at www.fairfaxcounty.gov/living/animals, has information on animals currently available for adoption.
