Artur Davis to Address Republican Women of Clifton

The former Democratic Congressman who switched to the Republican party earlier this year will address the RWC's September meeting.

Artur Davis, former four-term Democratic Congressman from Alabama now campaigning for the Republican Party, will be the featured speaker at the Republican Women of Clifton (RWC) meeting on Sept. 17.

Davis, a co-chair of President Barack Obama's 2008 campaign, was on hand August 17 at vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan's rally in Springfield. Davis will be speaking at the Republican National Convention in late August.

“We are delighted that Artur Davis will speak to us about why he has joined the GOP,” said Gearhart. “We also look forward to his insights from the Republican National Convention.”

The RWC is the fastest growing Republican women’s club in Northern Virginia, according to club spokesperson Susan Lider.  It is comprised of conservative women from Clifton, Centreville, Fairfax Station, Fairfax, Lorton and surrounding areas.  Formed in the fall of 2006, the club holds monthly meetings with speakers, participates in elections and sponsors special events.

The event will be held at 9103 Wood Spice Lane in Lorton. [Please note the change in location from Centreville High School to Lorton.] RWC members and guests are invited to the social hour which begins at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

President Marianne Gearhart will open the business meeting at 7:30 p.m., after which Davis will speak and answer questions.
