Bile Earns Spot at Nationals with Second Place Finish at Regionals

The AHS senior finished two places higher than his 2010 performance

Annandale High School senior Ahmed Bile took second place at the 33rd Annual Foot Locker Cross Country Championships South Regional in Charlotte, N.C. on Saturday, Nov. 26.

Bile's finishing time of 14:38 was only one second behind Texas' Craig Nowak, who finished first.

As a result of his win, Bile earns a spot in the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championships on Dec. 10 in San Diego, Calif. This will be Bile's second appearance at the championships. He finished in fourth place in 2010.

The Virginia team, which consisted of 32 runners, came in first place overall. Chantilly High School's Sean McGorty finished in sixth place. West Potomac's Paul Gates finished in 17th place.

Lake Braddock's Sophie Chase finished in second place, the highest for the Virginia girls.
