Hopeful pets are awaiting new homes at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, and an Olympics-inspired promotion hopes to take them there.
The shelter’s OlymPETS adoption event started Tuesday and lasts until Aug. 11. During that time, two cats or kittens can be adopted for the price of one and all adopted cats will receive a free spay or neuter.
The cost of adopting two cats would be $30 at the shelter at 4500 West Ox Road in Fairfax from 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, please contact the Fairfax County Animal Shelter at (703) 830-1100.

Best wishes on OlymPETS adoptions! Animal lovers may enjoy a new music video I've just released, a bluesy rocker entitled "Nothin' Butt a Mutt.' Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGv09fZuops The video features puppies and kittens interpreting my new novel, "Who's Your Daddy, Baby?," being released July 24. Amazon and Barnes & Noble are currently taking pre-orders. I want to thank the Commonwealth Humane Society of Fairfax for the generous loan of the cute puppies and kittens. -- Lisa Pell
