1. On Jan. 16, 1786, the Commonwealth of Virginia enacted Thomas Jefferson's Statute for Religious Freedom. According to the document: 

"Be it enacted by General Assembly that no man shall be compelled to frequent or support any religious worship, place, or ministry whatsoever, nor shall be enforced, restrained, molested, or burthened in his body or goods, nor shall otherwise suffer on account of his religious opinions or belief, but that all men shall be free to profess, and by argument to maintain, their opinions in matters of religion, and that the same shall in no wise diminish, enlarge or affect their civil capacities." 

2. Thirsty? On this date in 1919, the Eighteenth Amendment, which authorized the prohibition of alcohol, was ratified in the U.S. Constitution.

3. Famous Birthdays: American film director John Carpenter is 65; American boxer Roy Jones Junior is 44 and British supermodel Kate Moss is 39. 

4. The weather today will be rainy, but mostly before noon. The low temperature is expected to be about 45 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The evening will be cloudy with a low temperature of about 35 degrees. 

5. South County High School Class of 2015 will be hosting this year's Annual Mr. Stallion. The male beauty pageant consists of 10 students, including 2011 winner Mark Gavino and 2012 winner Brent Bainwol.
