Mount Vernon Resident Jack Dobbyn Announces Campaign

Dobbyn will run against Dave Albo for the 42nd District seat.

Longtime Mount Vernon resident and political newcomer Jack Dobbyn announced his candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates today.

Dobbyn, who will run on the Democratic ticket, will challenge incumbent Dave Albo for the 42nd District seat. Dobbyn is the Vice President of Operations for his family’s real estate consulting firm and aspires to bring a professional business mindset to Richmond while being an advocate for Fairfax County.

“I’m running for Delegate because I want to make sure my daughters enjoy the same opportunities that I had growing up, and I want the same for you and your family,” Dobbyn said in a press release issued by his campaign. “Southern Fairfax County deserves real leadership in Richmond, and I will be a tireless advocate for better schools, roads, transit, and our fair share of the tax dollars we send there.”

Jack and his wife Katie own a home in the same Mount Vernon neighborhood where he grew up. The couple has two young daughters, Victoria and Marie. Dobbyn is a graduate of Penn State Law School and St. John’s College in Annapolis. He is active in the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club, the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce, and the Knights of Columbus. He has volunteered as a coach for Woodlawn Little League and regularly attends services at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Dobbyn will host a pool party fundraiser this Saturday in Mount Vernon. The suggested donation is $25.
