Fairfax Station Man, 22, Killed Crossing Silverbrook Road
Victim was Michael J. Henley, 22, of Fairfax Station
Fairfax Station resident Michael J. Henley, 22, was struck by two vehicles Saturday night and killed while attempting to cross Silverbrook Road, according to Fairfax County Police.
It was shortly before 6 p.m. when Henley attempted to cross the street, near Crosspointe Drive.
According to Henley's facebook page, he graduated from South County Secondary School in 2007 and was currently a student at James Madison University.
During the preliminary investigation, crash reconstruction detectives determined that Henley was trying to cross Silverbrook Road from north to south.
A 2010 GMC Acadia driven by a 36-year-old Fairfax Station man was traveling east on Silverbrook approaching Crosspointe Drive when Henley stepped in front of the vehicle and was struck. The victim was thrown into the westbound lane on Silverbrook Road and was then hit by a second vehicle; a 2005 Chrysler mini-van being driven by a 46-year-old Fairfax Station man.
Both vehicles remained on the scene. The victim was medevaced to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be a factor in this crash. The investigation will continue and no charges have been placed.
Police remind pedestrians to wear light-colored or reflective clothing when walking at night.

Sorry to read about this young man dying. How horrid to be hit by two vehicles. One only knows if he had not been hit the second time maybe he would still be here. Peace to the family and his friends that knew him well.

This is a devastating accident for the Henley family especially during the Christmas season. Our prayers for peace, comfort and understanding go for them and for the two drivers. It has to be very difficult for all.

This intersection is super dark at night - some street lights are needed as pedestrians cross here often..

there should be a traffic light at this intersection. the speed limit is 35 mph on silverbrook, but i NEVER witness anyone going less than 50 mph. there are dips to the right and left that make it hard to see oncoming traffic, especially during the day. children must take the school bus to the other side of crosspointe because of this DANGEROUS intersection. and the school is a block away! i tell my kids that they are NOT to go ANYWHERE near that intersection! it will probably take a few more accidents for the county to do something though.
