Robinson, South County Students Recognized in Art Competition

Fairfax County Public School students won 406 Scholastic Art Awards.

Robinson and South County Secondary School students recently won regional Scholastic Art Awards.

The program is sponsored by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, a national organization which has been recognizing student artwork since 1923. Fairfax County Public School students won 406 awards in the program this year, according to a press release from the school district.

Twenty-six South County students and 17 Robinson students were recognized.

Winning artwork will be on display at Northern Virginia Community College’s Ernst Community Cultural Center in Annandale from Feb. 10 through Feb. 23.

Awards were presented for outstanding drawings, photographs, ceramics, sculptures, jewelry, fashion, and animation, among other art forms.

Top entries will be submitted to the national Scholastic Art Awards competition, where students could be eligible for monetary awards and scholarships. Winners will be announced in April and an exhibit of the national winners’ works will be on display in New York later this year.
