Brrrrrrrr! It's gotten cold recently! Patch just spent a freezing afternoon at the Clifton Cafe, and we were wondering what distinguishing brews we should get. The cafe, which makes crepes and specialty coffee, tea and other drinks, has been a Clifton staple for four years.
Barista Alli Pitts has worked at the restaurant for three years, and said that while the drinks can seem pricey ($4 for a small drink to $5.75 for a large), they're not your average cup of joe.
"All of our drinks with chocolate are made with dark chocolate," said Alli. "We try to keep our drinks on the less sweet side so that you can taste the coffee, because our coffee speaks for itself."
Alli's Top Recommendations:
- The Mayan Hot Chocolate: Made with Ghirardelli chocolate, chili powder, cinnamon and whipped cream.
- Chai Tea: Made with "The Republic of Tea" chai. Watch out! It's full of caffeine. The drink includes nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves.
- Black Label Mocha: An oldie but a goodie. Made with PT's Coffee from Topeka, Kansas.
Not strong enough for you? "Our motto is that you can add a shot of espresso to anything," Alli said.
