Virginia Historical Society Honors Rebecca Donlon

The Liberty Middle School Civics teacher won the Brenton S. Halsey Teaching Excellence Award.

 

The Virginia Historical Society (VHS) recently honored Liberty Middle School teacher Rebecca Donlon with the 2011 Brenton S. Halsey Teaching Excellence Award for her work as the collaborative team leader for eighth grade civics.

Donlon oversees civic instruction for the entire school, which includes students of diverse backgrounds and students with special needs.

At a recent luncheon, the VHS presented awards to nine individuals who have contributed to the research, education and the mission of the society. The nine honored during the luncheon included teachers, a collector, an author, students, volunteers and staff from throughout the state.
