Democratic U.S. Senate candidate answered questions in appearance at AOL's Dulles office.
U.S. Senate hopeful Tim Kaine said the federal government should chip in for the Silver Line Phase 2 — but that the commonwealth also needs to pay a bigger share than the $150 million it has promised to ensure it gets built as scheduled. "What we are seeing in Washington is an anti-investment mentality," Kaine (D) told a group at AOL's Dulles headquarters Thursday. He said he worked with the Bush and Obama administrations to get $900 million for the first phase and the next phase has centered on who pays for it. "I believe it is a project of federal significance because it links Dulles with the most important capital city in the world," he said. "But when it comes to the state being a meaningful participant, Virginia has fallen short too. …

Mitt Romney stopped by female-owned Exhibit Edge in Chantilly to speak about small businesses and the economy.
Former Massachusetts governor and expected Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney stood in front of several women business leaders in Chantilly Wednesday morning to speak about the economy and its impact on small businesses. Romney slammed President Obama for not improving the economy, for not having private sector experience and for running an administration that is the most "anti-small business" since the Carter administration. CBS News pointed out that this was the second time in three days that Romney has compared Obama to Carter, a Democrat president who only served one term. According to poll results released Tuesday, Romney is trailing Obama in Virginia by eight points. Romney will be holding a fundraiser Wednesday evening at…

PPP released the poll results Tuesday; Romney is visiting a company in Chantilly Wednesday on a campaign stop. Obama leads Romney 51 – 43 percent, up slightly from PPP’s poll in December when Obama led by six points (48 – 42). In the late April poll, 6 percent of respondents said they were undecided. PPP surveyed 680 Virginia voters through an automated telephone interview system from April 26 to April 29. The margin of error for the survey is +/-3.8 percent. “We have polled Virginia six times this election cycle and have found Barack Obama with a decent sized lead over Mitt Romney every single time,” …
The incumbents were uncontested.
Forty-seven people cast votes in the Clifton town general elections on Tuesday, according to the Virginia State Board of Elections preliminary results. None of the incumbents faced challenges and all incumbents ran for re-election this spring. Prior to the election, Patch published questionnaires with candidates Bill Hollaway, Wayne Nickum, Deb Dillard and Dwayne Nitz. Council members answered questions about the future prospects for the town's streetscape master plan, among other issues. Hollaway received 35 votes (and one person voted for an unidentified write-in candiate). Nitz received 42 votes, which was …

Romney is scheduled to visit Exhibit Edge in Chantilly Wednesday morning.
Just days before President Obama's campaign kick-off in Richmond Saturday, Mitt Romney is scheduled to bring his campaign to Chantilly Wednesday. Virginia is considered a swing-state in this year's election. Gov. Robert F. McDonnell plans to campaign alongside Romney this week in Virginia, but will not be attending the event Wednesday morning due to budget meetings in Richmond, according to Yahoo News. Republican Newt Gingrich is also expected to be in Northern Virginia on Wednesday to officially announce his departure from the presidential race, according to CBS News. Romney's last-standing rival, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, is not quite ready to drop out, and CBS News reported that he has not decided if he'll support Romney as a …
