VIRGINIA TIRE & AUTO RECEIVES COMMUNITY CHAMPION AWARD FROM SHELTER HOUSE, INC.

Family-owned and Operated Automotive Maintenance Provider Recognized for its Wheels for Work Program

(Fairfax, VA – JUNE 28, 2012) – Virginia Tire & Auto (www.vatire.com), the Fairfax-based leading full-service provider of automotive maintenance, repair and tire services, celebrates receiving the Community Champion Award from Shelter House, Inc., a Fairfax-based, non-profit organization serving homeless families and victims of domestic violence. Virginia Tire & Auto was recognized for its Wheels for Work program, under which it performs automotive repair services pro bono to low income families who are in need of transportation to get to and from their jobs.

On June 12, 2012, Virginia Tire & Auto was recognized with this award at the Shelter House Annual Meeting and Volunteer Awards event at the Capital One headquarters in McLean. Virginia Tire & Auto, along with the other volunteers, were awarded for contributing over 8,000 individual hours of service over the past year at Shelter House’s Patrick Henry Family Shelter, Katherine Hanley Family Shelter and Artemis House emergency domestic violence shelter.

Imagine the value of making a child smile, the value of seeing a parent develop self-confidence from our volunteer-led life skills courses, the value of every birthday party, tutoring session, computer class and activity camp,” said Ronald Redmon, Shelter House Board President and Senior Vice President and Market Executive for the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. region of First Citizens Bank. “This is what our volunteers represent, and I believe it is safe to say that the value is immeasurable.”
