Congrats: Fairfax Station's Amanda So Named University Athletic Association Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week

So is a junior at Carnegie Mellon University

After scoring three goals in a weekend tournament, Fairfax Station's Amanda So has been named the University Athletic Association Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week after a standout performance during the Carnegie Mellon Women’s Soccer DoubleTree Tartan Cup. This marks the first award for the Tartans and first award for So.

So, a junior business major at Carnegie Mellon, is a graduate of Lake Braddock Secondary School. So started the weekend with her first career goal on Saturday in a 1-1 tie with Ohio Northern University before adding two to her career total on Sunday in a 3-2 loss against seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins University.

So's tally against Ohio Northern happened four minutes into the second half and brought the Tartans even with the Polar Bears. Against Johns Hopkins, So helped the team get off to a hot start by scoring twice in the span of six minutes (17:41 and 23:24), giving the Tartans a 2-0 lead.

So and the Tartans will be in action again on Wednesday, September 11 at Washington & Jefferson College. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
