The 2011 Occoquan Masters Spirit Regatta was held on Sunday, July 11, at Sandy Run Park. Over 20 clubs participated.
Proceeds from the race go to support the Julia Shew Memorial Rowing Scholarship. The scholarship, according to the Occoquan Boat Club’s website, benefits local high school rowers who are in need of financial assistance in order to participate in their scholastic rowing program. Last year OBC supported 16 youths representing 10 eligible schools who were awarded scholarships for a total of $6,575.
