Sunday: County Board Chair Sharon Bulova Hosting Oktoberfest at Workhouse Arts Center

"What contemptible scoundrel has stolen the cork to my lunch?" - W.C. Fields

Dust off the Bavarian hat and get out your schooner and knee-high socks because Sun., Sept. 22 is Fairfax County Board Chair Sharon Bulova's annual Oktoberfest at the Workhouse Arts Center. Expect German music, beer, food and hundreds of guests on the Workhouse quad from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.

It's Bulova's 27th annual Oktoberfest celebration and the fourth annual at the Workhouse. The food is being catered by Brion's Grille at University Mall, and the menu includes:

  • Dominion Oktoberfest beer
  • German wines
  • Bratwurst
  • German potato salad
  • Sauerkraut
  • Red cabbage
  • Cucumber salad
  • Desserts
"We also offer tours of the Workhouse (the former Lorton prison), so that people get a feel for the history and the work of the artists, and I've seen a lot of people with a lot of shopping bags at the event over the years," said nine-time event coordinator Gretchen Bulova (Sharon Bulova's daughter-in-law). "I think its a win-win for the Workhouse. We bring over 300 people who have never been there."
