Volunteers Needed to Help Prepare Tax Returns

The Fairfax County Department of Family Services needs volunteers from January to mid-April 2013.

Fairfax County is seeking volunteers to help prepare tax returns for low-income families.

The Volunteers Income Tax Assistance in partnership with the Fairfax County Department of Family Services needs volunteers from January to mid-April 2013 to: prepare taxes, greet and screen customers, serve as translators, and provide IT support at library sites or act as a site coordinator.

According to their website, each volunteer is needed for three to six hours a week. All volunteers will be trained in how to use TaxWise and Tax Law software. The training is free. Volunteers will be certified as a tax preparer by the IRS upon successful completion of their training.
