Photos: 'Hairspray' at Robinson Secondary School Heading to Cappies

"Hairspray" at Robinson Secondary School has been nominated for multiple Cappies this year, including best musical. The 14th Annual Cappies Gala awards at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on June 9.

Robinson's "Hairspray" has been nominated for:  

• Best Musical
• Marketing and Publicity: Sarah Irving, Sean Cooper, Brennan Laskas 
• Comic Actor in a Musical: Spencer Boyd
• Supporting Actress in a Musical: Katie Rogers 
• Song "I Know Where I've Been" 

The Cappies (the Critics and Awards program) program preps high school theatre and journalism students in the world of theater by publishing their reviews with publications like The Washington Post.

At the end of the year, the student critics vote for 200 student winners with 35 awards that are presented at the Gala.
