Robinson Secondary Middle School Students Find Their Voice

Robinson students will perform on Wednesday

Robinson Secondary School’s middle school drama students will perform a student-created skit for their peers Wednesday.

The students will perform the “Compass,” which they first acted out as part of the five-day Voices of Now Festival. The festival was held at the Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater in D.C. on May 29.

Robinson, along with several other Fairfax County Schools, participated in the Voices of Now workshops where students learned about theater, play-writing, and performance. The Washington D.C. performance was a culmination of the workshops which began in January.

“The students were thrilled,” said Mary Aunon, after-school program specialist at
the school. “They got to rehearse in the professional facilities there and perform in a beautiful setting. I’m not really sure that they knew the full impact of this, but it was very exciting for them to be around professionals in the field.”

Students will perform on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the school’s Russell Theater at 5035 Sideburn Road.
