  • Why Go: The former Tonight Show band leader performs as part of the National Trumpet Competition.

  • Where: West Springfield High School, Springfield
  • When: Friday, March 16 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Enjoy an evening of entertainment with this popular political satirist group.   
  • Price:  Tickets are $30 at the door

Metropolitan Performing Arts Theatre presents: Zombie Prom

  • Why Go: The entire family will enjoy this 50’s era comedy musical about a teenage girl and her zombie boyfriend.

  • Wee Folk Fairy Tales at Sherwood Regional Library, Alexandria.  Friday, March 16 at 2 p.m.  For ages 2-5.  FREE
  • Amelia Earhart: Dreams Take Flight at Burke Centre Library, Burke.  Saturday, March 17 at 1 p.m.  For ages 8-14.  FREE

Nature Programs:

  • Ponderings - Spring at Hidden Pond Nature Center, Springfield.  Friday, March 16 at 4:30 p.m.  For ages 6-11.  $6 - $8 per person – Registration required.
  • Nature Buddies – Spring Topics at Huntley Meadows Park, Alexandria.  Saturday, March 17 at 10 a.m.  For ages 3-6.  $10 - $12 per person – Registration required.
  • Go Green: Shamrocks and Snakes at Hidden Oaks Nature Center, Annandale.  Saturday, March 17 at 2 p.m.  For ages 3 and up.  $6 - $8 per person – Registration required.
  • Evening Walk at Huntley Meadows Park, Alexandria.  Saturday, March 17 at 6:30 p.m.  For adults.  $6 - $8 per person – Registration required.

Potomac Watershed Cleanup Day

  • Where: Hidden Oaks Nature Center, Annandale; Hidden Pond Nature Center, Springfield; Huntley Meadows Park, Alexandria
  • When: Saturday, March 17 from 9 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Why Go: Make a difference by helping to tidy up our local waterways.  Please wear appropriate clothing, such as boots, work clothes, and gloves. 

Art Guild of Clifton Grand Opening Show

  • Where: NOVA Music Center, Clifton
  • When: Saturday, March 17 from 6 – 9 p.m.
  • Why Go: Twenty local artists will display a variety of projects at the Guild’s first official reception and show.
  • Price:  Admission is FREE

Fairfax Symphony Orchestra

  • Where: GMU Center for the Arts, Fairfax
  • When: Saturday, March 17 at 8 p.m.
  • Why Go: Conducted by Christopher Zimmerman and featuring Rick Rowley on piano.  Selections include Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite and Finlandia by Sibelius.  Don’t miss the pre-performance lecture beginning at 7 p.m.
  • Price:  Tickets range from $25 - $55

39th Annual All-Heisey Antique Glass Show

  • Where: Annandale Volunteer Fire Department, Annandale
  • When: Saturday, March 17 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 18 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: The National Capital Heisey Collector’s Club is dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of Heisey glass.  The theme for this year’s show is Soda Fountain Memories.
  • Price:  Admission is $7

Jane Austen’s English Country Garden

  • Where: Green Spring Gardens, Annandale
  • When: Sunday, March 18 at 1 p.m.
  • Why Go: Learn about the English gardens and landscapes that were the backdrop of Jane Austen’s popular novels.
  • Price:  Admission is $27 – Reservations required.

Presidential Salon with James Madison

  • Where: Gadsby’s Tavern Museum, Alexandria
  • When: Sunday, March 18 at 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Don’t miss your chance to engage in conversation with our fourth president.  Period attire is welcome, but not required.
  • Price:  Regular admission is $15; high school and college students $10.  Reservations recommended.
