Bobcat Drum Major Marching in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

On Thanksgiving Day, Battlefield Marching Bobcat Drum Major Karen Tran will join the Great American Marching Band in the leading the 87th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade into Herald Square in New York City. We are ecstatic that Karen has been honored with this selection. She will be marching in the saxophone section of the band. According to the Music Festivals & Tours website, “Honoring America's finest high school musicians, this band will be comprised of select students from each of the fifty states. The musicians are under the direction of Auburn University's Dr. Richard Good and Assistant Director, Barry Houser, from the University of Illinois. The 185 musicians will be complemented by approximately 40 flags and dancers.”

Additionally, Battlefield High School alumni Liana Smith (2012-13 Drum Major) and Danny Post (2012-13 clarinet section leader) will march with the James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes in the Thanksgiving Day Parade as well. We are proud and ecstatic our current and alumni Marching Bobcats have been honored with these selections to join in this historical parade.
