New County Public Safety Headquarters

Fairfax County Government Center Rooms 4 and 5

12000 Government Center Parkway

Learn about Fairfax County's plans to construct a new Public Safety Communications Center on the grounds of the Government Center adjacent to the Herrity Building. This building is slated to become a joint headquarters for both the Police and Fire and Rescue Departments.  The 44 year old Massey building, which currently houses these agencies, has significant health and safety problems, including asbestos, and will be demolished.  The 275,000 square foot structure will be constructed at a size that would accommodate the County's projected public safety headquarters needs through 2030 and will also house the County's Data Center. It will be designed as a green building, includes eight stories of office space and two smaller "penthouse" stories to house mechanical and electrical equipment, and will include an adjacent five story secured parking garage. A new traffic signal at the intersection of Post Forest Drive and the Legato Road/Random Hills Road intersection has been budgeted.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide citizens with an opportunity to review the proposal and make comments and suggestions.

Braddock Budget Town Hall

On Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Robinson Secondary School in the Gold Cafeteria. Supervisor Cook, along with Braddock School Board Representative Megan McLaughlin and County Chief Financial Officer Susan Datta will discuss and answer questions about the proposed FY 2013 Fairfax County Budget. All members of the public are welcome.
