Supervisor Cook to Host Two Budget Town Hall Meetings

Monday, March 19, at 7:30 pm.: at Canterbury Woods Elementary School Cafeteria, 4910 Willet Drive, Annandale. Supervisor Cook and the County's Chief Financial Officer Susan Datta will discuss and answer questions about the proposed FY 2013 Fairfax County Budget. 

Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.: at Robinson Secondary School in the Gold Cafeteria. Supervisor Cook, Braddock School Board Member Megan McLaughlin and the County's Chief Financial Officer Susan Datta will discuss and answer questions about the proposed FY 2013 Fairfax County Budget.

Braddock District Council Hosts County Budget Presentation

Wednesday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m.: at the Kings Park Library, in Braddock Hall, 9002 Burke Lake Road, Burke. The Braddock District Council (BDC) will be holding its annual Budget Meeting and will be discussing the proposed FY2013 Budget. Supervisor Cook will be in attendance.

Major Closures at Springfield Interchange, Expected to Last Three Weeks

The Virginia Department of Transportation will close I-495 west/north, Inner Loop at the Springfield Interchange from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., each night starting on Monday night, March 12 through Thursday night, March 15 and Friday night, March 16 from 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. 

The following overnight detour route will be in effect: all I-495 west/north traffic will be detoured to Exit 170B, I-395 north and take Exit 2, Edsall Road west, follow signage to I-395 south , and back to Exit 1D, I-495 north towards Tysons Corner. The detour may add an additional 15-20 minutes into a trip during overnight hours. 

Crews will be demolishing an old ramp over the highway, painting a new bridge structure and completing bridge work. The detour is expected to continue for up to three weeks, weather permitting. If you would like additional information please click here

Four Public Hearings Scheduled for Dulles Rail Phase II

Following Supervisor Cook's Board Matter asking for citizen input the County Executive has announced four community meetings that will inform the public about the costs and physical layout of Phase II of the Rail to Dulles project. Each meeting will have a presentation by staff followed by a question and answer session. The briefings presented at community meetings will be posted on the website along with the questions and answers from each community. Also, using social media, anyone who has a question may post it and staff will answer. Additionally an "Ask Fairfax" session has been proposed. The Four Public Meetings Are Scheduled For:

  • Monday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. South County Center: 8350 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, Community Room 221A/B, Transit: Fairfax Connector Route 171 and Metrobus REX 
  • Wednesday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m., Hutchison Elementary School: 13209 Parcher Avenue, Herndon Cafeteria, Transit: Fairfax Connector Route 950 
  • Thursday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m., Westgate Elementary School: 7500 Magarity Road, Falls Church Cafeteria, Transit: Metrobus 3T 
  • Monday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m. Fairfax County Government Center: 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Conference Rooms 9/10, Transit: Fairfax Connector routes 605, 621 and 623

Fairfax County Police Ask for Information Regarding a Burglary in Sully, Think Suspect May Be in Braddock

Fairfax County Police are asking for information regarding a vehicle that was seen leaving a burglary on March 7 in the Henderson Road area of Clifton. A witness observed a white male wearing a dark colored sweat shirt inside the residence. The suspect was later seen standing in front of a green Ford Taurus (2000) and was pulling the front license plate off. The suspect was further described as a white male, 6'0, medium build. The suspect is believed to be wearing dark colored rim eye glasses and was clean shaven.
