Photo: Making an Italian Sub at Clifton's General Store (aka The Main Street Pub)

Business is good — they would just like to see more businesses join them in Clifton.

Everything you could ever want in a convenience store is conveniently located in the Clifton General Store (which also includes The Main Street Pub and A Flower Blooms flower shop).

And business is booming, according to manager Sean McNamara.

"Last year was our biggest year since opening in 2008," said McNamara. "We have consistently seen 20 percent growth every year, but last year it was 30 percent."

McNamara hopes to see more businesses along Clifton's Main Street. "There's a half-hour wait on Friday and Saturday night, generally, and more businesses would mean that we'd all feed off each other. It would be awesome."

Are you following us on Facebook and Twitter? You should.

Patch is interviewing McNamara this week to talk more about the business. In the meantime, we took this photo of cooks Noah Hughes and Jared Vann, who made an Italian Sub (ham, Genoa salami, pepperoni, onions, lettuce, tomato and provolone cheese on an eight-inch sub roll).

The Main Street Pub is open daily from 8:00 a.m. till 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday 8:00 a.m. - midnight Thursday through Saturday.

We love it! Our family and friends practically live there. Food is great, McNamara family is great. I manage La Bella Luce down the street and agree with Sean... More businesses on Main Street and Chapel would be better. Our customers come shopping after or before lunch at the Pub..and ask where else to go!

I first came to the Clifton Store and Pub, visiting from Austin, Tx, in the spring of 2009 for lunch with my boyfriend's mom. His parents had lived in the area for nearly 35 years before their passing and knew The McNamara family well. We returned in the fall of 2010 to take care of them and are still here for a while; and make a point of eating at the Pub several times a month. There is no place quite like The Clifton Pub. The atmosphere, like Clifton, is quaint and friendly; the service, like the food, is superb. Great soups, burgers, salads. The fries are the best anywhere, breakfast can't be beat...and did I mention the Bloody Marys:) We saw a show on the food channel, claiming the best crab cake sandwich in America was at a restaurant in Baltimore. So, we drove all the way there to sample this 'great' crab cake. On the way home, we agreed...couldn't hold a candle to the crab cakes at The Pub:)
