National Coffee Day is this Sunday, Sept. 29. If you’re dragging a bit, you can get a free cup at a number of local coffee shops.
Here are some of the deals and Fairfax-area locations:
Caribou Coffee is offering a coupon for a free cup of coffee on their Facebook page Sunday. Download it and print it out or show it on your phone.
Dunkin’ Donuts is offering a free hot or iced coffee for those who have the company's free mobile app on their smartphone.
Starbucks - Participating locations will offer free coffee tastings of their new Ethiopia blend. Also, if you purchase a one-pound bag of the Ethiopia blend, you will receive a ceramic cup (while supplies last).
Fairfax City's newest coffee shop, 29th Parallel Coffee & Tea, is offering up a free cup of coffee to each visitor Sunday. The shop specializes in direct trade, organic coffees from around the world. Stop by and visit them in the Boulevard Marketplace at 10160 Fairfax Blvd. (Route 29), in the shopping center next to Smash Burger and Donato's Pizzeria.
Are you a coffee lover? The National Coffee Association says 83 percent of Americans have had a cup of coffee in the past year.
While there are some health concerns about over-consumption of caffeine, “for most people the health benefits [of consuming coffee] outweigh the risks,” according to the Mayo Clinic.
In moderation, coffee may help prevent Parkinson’s disease, Type 2 diabetes and liver cancer. It also contains antioxidants. Read more about the health benefits (and risks) from drinking coffee here.
