Washingtonian Names Town of Clifton as a 'Great Day Trip'

The town is featured in the August issue of the Washingtonian Magazine.

Washingtonian Magazine has named Clifton as one of the area’s top places for a day trip.

“We were thrilled to see that in there,” said Clifton Mayor Bill Holloway. "It’s a recognition that Clifton is a place people should come by and see.”

The short blurb on Clifton was part of a longer list that the magazine compiled of 35 destinations for D.C. residents, including the towns of Culpepper and Fredericksburg.

The magazine encouraged tourists to visit the , , the , , and other local businesses.

“It’s always good to get the publicity and have Clifton mentioned as a destination,” said Tom Peterson, owner of Peterson’s Ice Cream Depot. He adds that lately he has seen more out-of-towners in his shop. “When I’m out there, I ask people how they heard of us and so many of them have been on Yelp to review the businesses.”
