Car Show to Raise Money For Charity

The show is to be held Sunday at the Dulles Expo Center

A Clifton resident is helping orchestrate a car show at the Dulles Expo Center this weekend to raise funds for a local children’s hospital.

“I’ve been doing car show events for the last 15 years,” said Jim Chesley, who was the mayor of Clifton for over a decade. “I know it’s a good fundraiser. Cars are my passion, and if I can turn my passion into something that raises money for charity, all the better.”

The show will be held on Sunday at the Dulles Expo Center at 4320 Brookfield Corporate Drive in Chantilly from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The non-for-profit group Custom Cruisers of Northern Virginia along with the Field of Dreams Sunoco gas station in Chantilly is co-sponsoring the event. Chesley is on the board of directors for the Custom Cruisers group.

About 125 cars will be showcased. While admission to the show is free for spectators, those showcasing their cars pay a $15 registration fee. They will compete for 24 different titles including best of 20, best of show, and lady’s choice.

“Most of the cars that come to shows are from 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s,” Chesley said. “They’re either straight antiques or very radical hot rods. You see everything.”
