Construction Underway on South Run Park Improvements

Improvements to the parking lot started July 8.

By Patch editor Raytevia Evans

South Run Park, located at 7550 Reservation Drive in Springfield, is currently getting some improvements to its parking lot. Contractor Jeffrey Stack, Inc of Jersey, Va., will work on the improvements — which will include 144 new parking spaces.

Construction on the project began July 8. The improvements will also include renovating the existing spaces, constructing four underground storm water detention facilities, sidewalks and landscaping. Access to the construction site will be from the Fairfax County Parkway.

Reservation Drive will remain open for public access during construction, and a minimum of 100 parking spaces will be available while construction continues for the next few months.

The Fairfax County Park Authority bond program and the Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES) Storm Water Planning section are providing funding for these park improvements. The improvements are expected to be completed in December.
