Consumer Tips for the Shopping Season

Fairfax County officials offer answers from consumers

"If it seems too good to be true, it probably is" was the lesson learned from a conversation with Fairfax County authorities earlier this week.

The county’s Consumer Affairs Branch and the Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit held an “Ask Fairfax” Chat on consumer issues for Black Friday and Cyber Monday on Monday.

Detectives were asked about everything from the scams that they have seen this year to whether consumers should use debit or credit cards for their purchases.
