Clifton resident Barbara Jacksier grows a medley of fresh herbs and veggies in the backyard of her home that will put the produce section of the local grocer to shame.
"Everything I grow is organic," Jacksier said.
Jacksier grows everything from fresh fennel, to artichokes, asparagus, and kung pao peppers. The recent heat wave has made it more difficult to predict the growing patterns of the plants, Jacksier said, but overall they've held up well.
Jacksier uses all her fresh herbs in cooking her own food, along with fresh eggs she gets from the . One of the favorite herbs she grows is mint.
"We call it our mojito plant," Jacksier said.
