Patch Takes

Fairfax Station Patch readers had a lot to say on the news of the week. Here are some highlights from the comments:

  • Ticketing people above 50 mph? Hahaha, hilarious. EVERYONE is driving over 50! They can't ticket enough people. They will be pulling some unlucky guy over that will calm traffic temporarily until the cop is out of sight and then the race is back on! Personally, I do 60 and am constantly passed. I'd say traffic speeding past me is in the 65-75 mph range. This is nothing more than a revenue-generating maneuver by Fairfax County. Mike
  • I hope the FCPD *also* targets drivers who are aggressively tailgating those that actually try to drive 50 mph on the FFX CO PKWY. DW1976
  • I think if I read one more article describing how Canada geese made the decision to live in urban areas I will croak. Do your homework please and for the sake of accuracy put the blame where it belongs...hint..the geese aren't responsible. Canada geese were almost extinct and you have your wildlife agencies and 'experts' to thank for their current re-population and locations. "Beginning in the early 1900s, CANADA GEESE FROM CAPTIVE BREEDING FLOCKS WERE reintroduced into the southern parts of their former range. This practice continued through much of the 20th century, and Canada Geese were eventually restored in Pennsylvania, New York, Ontario, and west to southern Alberta. DURING THIS PERIOD GEESE WERE ALSO INTRODUCED TO AREAS THEY MAY NOT HAVE BRED BEFORE.' http://www.hww.ca/hww2.asp?id=35 Marion Ambler
  • My two children attend Clifton Elementary School and have had a wonderful education. One of my son's did attend Willow Spring Elementary School for one year for the advanced academic studies and we intensely disliked to uncaring environment. We sent him back to Clifton where he has continued to thrive academically. Liz Bradsher and the Fairfax County school board decided on their agenda prior to having the facts. They then contort the facts, even lying to the public, to push their agenda through at the expense of the people they are supposed to represent. The only member who seemed to be approachable, friendly and receptive was Tina Hone. The rest of the board members seem arrogant and heartless. Evelyn O. Evelyn O
