Save on Hurricane Supplies, Tax Free

The tax holiday starts Friday; official hurricane season begins June 1.

Homeowners can save on hurricane and other emergency supplies tax free this weekend.

The Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday starts on Saturday and continues through Thursday, May 31, just in time for the hurricane season, which begins June 1.

Residents can buy the essentials without the 5 percent state and local sales tax. There are 22 categories of smaller items, along with portable generators and inverters that are eligible. The list includes batteries, flashlights, duct tape, cell-phone chargers, and first-aid kits.
