Events for the Fourth of July Weekend around Fairfax Station

It’s Friday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do this Independence Day weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your “done-work-outta-here time." Check our top picks and activities for this weekend.

1. City of Fairfax Family Carnival

  • Where/When: 4020 University Drive, Fairfax/Saturday, July 2 10 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday, July 3 noon to 10 p.m.
  • Why Go: The whole family will enjoy going on carnival rides and indulging in funnel cake and fresh lemonade.
  • Price: Fees vary for carnival rides and games 

2. An American Celebration at Mount Vernon

  •  Where/When: 3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Mount Vernon/Monday, July 4th 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Why Go: Everyone will enjoy watching a special made-for-daytime fireworks display over the Potomac River. The event also includes military reenactments, a special wreath laying ceremony and a naturalization ceremony for 100 new citizens that is sure to make us all proud to be an American.
  • Pricing: Adults $15, Children 6-11 $7

3. City of Fairfax 4th of July Evening Program and Fireworks Show

  • Where/When: Fairfax High School, 3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax/Monday, July 4th 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Why Go: The City of Fairfax Band will begin entertaining the crowd at 7 p.m. followed by welcoming remarks and a presentation of awards by the Mayor. The Leggz will perform Motown and classic rock songs before the fireworks and the City of Fairfax band will play the 1812 overture during the firework display.
  • Pricing: Free

4. City of Fairfax Independence Day Parade

  • Where/When: 7124 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church/Monday, July 4th 10 a.m. - noon
  • Why Go: There will be marching bands, floats, representatives from local government and social clubs taking part in this long running Fourth of July tradition.

5.  Falls Church Independence Day celebration

  • Where/When: 7124 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church/Monday, July 4th 7 p.m. - 9:20 p.m. when the fireworks start
  • Why Go: Seating will be available at George Mason High School's Moore Cadillac Stadium and the Northern Virginia Graduate Center parking lot. Spectators are welcome to bring a chair for the lot or a blanket for the field. They will be selling food, drinks and ice cream during the event.
  • Pricing: Free

6. Clifton Independence Day Parade

  • Where/When: Clifton Town Park, Monday, July 4, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Why Go: View floats in a family-friendly atmosphere
  • Pricing: Free
