Clifton Sees Two Write-In Candidates Elected to Town Council

Town sees 31 percent of its 211 voters come out on Tuesday.

Clifton re-elected Mayor Bill Holloway and elected five town council members Tuesday.

No one on the ballot had official challengers in Tuesday's town council election in Clifton, but two write-in candidates — Jennifer Heilmann and Deborah Dillard — bested council member Chuck Rusnak, Jr., who was running for re-election.

Dillard was previously on the town council, but was not on the ballot. Heilmann is new to the council.

Of the 211 registered voters in Clifton, 66 or 31.28 percent of them turned out on Tuesday to vote for a mayor and elect town council members.

Here's how the vote went, according to the Fairfax County unofficial returns:

Mayor:

William R. Hollaway: 57 votes

Town Council (newly elected members in bold):

  • Eric Guenther Hencken: 56 (new)
  • Wayne H. Nickum: 50 (re-elected)
  • Dwayne R. Nitz: 59 (re-elected)
  • Chuck M. Rusnak, Jr.: 28
  • Jennifer Heilmann (Write-In) 58 (new)
