CIVIL WAR FORUM AT THE FAIRFAX STATION RAILROAD MUSEUM
On Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 7:30 p.m., Burke Historical Society President, Jon Vrana and Mary Lipsey, President, Fairfax County Cemetery Preservation Society, will present the exciting Civil War Forum, "The Christmas Raid of 1862". On December 28, 1862, General J.E.B. Stuart, along with 1,800 men and 4 artillery pieces, led a cavalry raid on Burke's Station, Virginia. That night, a small contingency rode to the wooden trestle railroad bridge over Accotink Creek with the goal of burning the bridge and disrupting communications and transportation of the U.S. Military Railroad.
The Forum will be held at the Fairfax Station Railroad Museum at 11200 Fairfax Station Road in Fairfax Station. The Forum is free and open to the public. For more information on the Museum Forums and events, please visit, www.fairfax-station.org or call 703-425-9225.
