Local Area CROP Hunger Walk - November 24

Do you enjoy visiting with friends, making new friends, being outside and getting exercise? On November 24 you can do all of that AND help change the world.

Join in the 21st Annual Burke Area CROP Hunger Walk and give yourself the gift of knowing you are making a difference for the nearly one billion people that face hunger worldwide. For a few hours and a few miles, friends and neighbors in your community will join together in a common cause to help hungry people at home and around the world and help victims of disasters like the severe flooding in Colorado.

CROP Hunger Walk is the oldest nationally-based walk for hunger in the U.S.  Nationwide, these walks are ending hunger one step at a time and you can be a part of it! Invite your friends and family to join you on November 24 and walk with an estimated 400 other neighbors who want to help others.

The event is family-friendly and open to all. There is no registration fee, however all walkers must register and are encouraged to set personal fundraising goals and to sponsor themselves. Participants can create a team online to increase fundraising and give those who cannot attend the opportunity to participate through sponsorship.

The Walk begins at Living Savior Lutheran Church, Fairfax Station, and ends at Fairfax Presbyterian Church, Fairfax (6K/3.6 miles). At Fairfax Presbyterian, a short celebration is planned so that walkers can join together in celebration of the community spirit of common mission purpose; there will be refreshments, live music, and a few fun awards given generously from local area sponsors. Shuttle buses will be available. Registration is at 1:30 p.m., and the walk begins at 2:00.

Optionally, walkers are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item for the local ECHO food pantry.

Since 1993, the Burke Area CROP Hunger Walk has been bringing together friends and neighbors from the Burke, Springfield, Fairfax Station, Fairfax, and Clifton communities in a common purpose: helping hungry people at home and around the world. In those 20 years, nearly 5,000 Burke area CROP Walkers have raised over $290,000, which has provided food, shelter, and emergency relief to people in need locally and globally.

By walking together, talking together, and laughing together, we learn more about each other and more about the world. Join us!
