Fairfax County 'Citizen of the Year' To Be Honored

The Citizen of the Year will be honored in March.

Fairfax County’s “Citizen of the Year” and several others will be honored at a banquet in McLean next month.

Walter Alcorn, of Reston, was awarded the Citizen of the Year honor. Alcorn is being honored for his service on the Fairfax County Planning Commission since 1997.

Ellie Ashford of Annandale, Corazon Foley of Springfield, and Terry Maynard of Reston will be granted Citizen of Merit Awards.

The Fairfax County Federation of Citizens association and Science Applications International Corporation are sponsoring the March 21 banquet.

The all-volunteer Federation of Citizens group was established in 1940 and is the collective entity for homeowner, civic, and community associations.

Jeremy Mayer, who is the associate director for the Master of Public Policy Program at , will speak at the event.
