Fairfax Station Veteran Wins Angler of the Year Award

Tony Choe was awarded last month

A Fairfax Station resident recently was awarded the title of “Bass Tour Angler of the Year” by the Paralyzed Veterans of America group.

Tony Choe, 43, a Marine Corps Veteran was awarded last month. The Washington D.C.-based organization hosts seven fishing tournaments throughout the year in various states, according to the organization’s website.

“We partner disabled anglers with able-bodied partners,” said Alan Earl, associate director of sports and recreation for the group. “They fish for a couple of days and have a good old time.”

As the 2011 Angler of the Year, Choe won more than $10,000 in prizes.

“Fishing PVA is like being part of a family,” Choe told the PVA group in a press release. “It’s fun getting together with old friends and fishing buddies and seeing different parts of the country. I love the camaraderie.”
