Bloodhounds 'Bolt' and 'Silas' Prepare for Duty in Fairfax County

Handlers believe they'll be fully prepared to begin their official roles by May or June.

Fairfax County Police reported Tuesday that Bloodhound sisters Bolt and Silas are almost ready to hit the streets of Fairfax County. The pups began their training in September 2013 and, due to their popularity, the agency is sharing recent photos of the siblings.

According to their handlers, the 9-month-olds still have a “ways to go” with their maturity and ability to focus without distractions. They’ve been exposed to a wide variety of terrains and surfaces, such as gravel, tile, concrete pavement, and grassy hills. Handlers believe they’ll be fully prepared to begin their official roles by May or June.

Both dogs get along well with the other K-9s in the agency and are described as sociable and friendly.
