According to Fairfax County police, the accident occurred on June 28 at about 6 p.m. A 27-year-old woman driving a 2011 Chevrolet Impala was on Mattie Moore Court attempting to make a left turn onto Shirley Gate Road. As she entered the intersection, her car struck a 2009 GMC Sierra. The pickup became airborne and collided with a street light.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to have been factors. Offers will determine after an investigation whether charges are appropriate.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured. Authorities have not released the name of the driver.
