A Fairfax County Public Schools employee has been charged with embezzlement after 1,200 laptop computers belonging to the school system were found in his home.

Craig Soderberg, 60, of Lady Anne Court in Alexandria, was charged with two counts of embezzlement. Soderberg was a warehouse employee, the Fairfax County Police Department reports.

The FCPS Internal Investigation Section was tipped off in October of last year, authorities report.

Police believe that Soderberg had been taking used computers, refurbishing them, and selling them online.

The investigation is ongoing.

This Fairfax County School System employee lives in the Lee District of Fairfax County. He does not live in Alexandria City. A small detail granted but it makes his crime even worst that he would steal from his own County schools! How convenient that this crime would come to light when the County Supervisors and the FC Public Schools are about to have their annual "Fight for the Dollars"! This further demonstrates the lack of accountability and oversight from the FCPS Board. WHY should home owner tax payers continue to dump more tax dollars into their bottomless pit??
