Authorities are searching for more information on the thefts arranged via Craigslist

Police are investigating a series of armed robberies that began with iPhones advertised on Craigslist.

Up to a dozen robberies have occurred over the last three months in Fairfax County, authorities said. Police advise buyers and sellers to use caution, meet up in the daytime hours, and take a friend with them for the purchase.

Authorities believe that many of the incidents were not reported to the police. Potential victims should contact Detective John Vickery at 703-246-7800.
