Sunday House Fire in Fairfax Station Under Investigation

Damage from the fire is estimated at $500,000.

Authorities are currently investigating a house fire that broke out Sunday afternoon in Fairfax Station.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue received a call at around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, regarding a fire in the single-family home located at 8108 Bellingham Court.

"Firefighters encountered a two-story home fully involved with fire coming from all sides upon arrival," authorities said in a statement Monday.

The department's incident commander immediately struck a second alarm, bringing approximately 60 firefighters to the scene, the statement indicated.

"Firefighters were able to keep the fire in check, not allowing the fire to spread to the nearby woods and adjacent homes with wood shake roofs," the authorities said. "The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes."

No one was home when the fire broke out, the department said.

Three adults have been displaced, and are being supported by the Red Cross.

One firefighter was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The damage caused by the fire is estimated at $500,000, according to the statement.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
