Burke Lake Park Miniature Train Reopens

The train rides reopen this Saturday, April 7.

After months of repairs, the 40-year-old miniature train at Burke Lake Park will be pulling into the station once again starting Saturday.

The train shut down in November of last year for $897,000 in renovations. Most of the improvements were behind-the-scenes with changes on the switches, rails and ties.

The only noticeable difference will be that some tree branches have been cut back along the train route so passengers may get a better view, the Fairfax County Park Authority reports.

A 2008 park bond provided funding for the project.

The train will run weekends only from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. until Memorial Day. Rides are $2.50. After Memorial Day, the train will be open daily. More information on the rides at Burke Lake Park is available here from the Fairfax County Park Authority website.
