Town Council Meeting, June 7, 7:30 p.m.

Order of Business:

1.  Review of the Minutes (last regular meeting and any subsequent special meetings).

2.  Report of the Treasurer.

  • Town Council approved the treasurer’s report.

3.  Reports of Planning Commission, Architectural Review Board, and Committees:

  • Planning Commission: Planning commission recommended the use of the property on 12702 Chapel Road as the site for a veterinary clinic (the site that is now the Animal Clinic of Clifton). Those plans were approved.
  • Architectural Review Board: The ARB addressed an application for the signage for the soon to be opened Weston’s restaurant on Main Street.
  • Committees: The town council announced plans for the next public meeting on the Streetscape Master Plan. At the next meeting, the committee will put have further discussion on the streetscape plans along with input from the public. The meeting will be held on June 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Clifton Town Hall. 
  • Results from Clifton Gala: $31,700 was raised from the Clifton Gala. Last year, about $24,000 was raised. “The expenses for the event relative to the amount spent were spectacular,” said Mayor Bill Hollaway. “This is a great example of the kinds of event we should do.”

4. Communications.

  • Citizen Complaint re: Placement of Sign for Clifton Café. A resident had emailed town council members to complain of a sandwich board that was placed on the sidewalk outside of the Clifton Café. A town council member spoke with the staffers and the sign was removed.

5. Citizen’s Remarks:

  • None

6. Unfinished Business:

  • Approval of Budget for FYE1206: The town council will have a special meeting to further discuss the budget.
  • Approval of FY10 Audited Financials: Approved.
  • Approval of Lease Renewal for Pink House Front Building (La Bella Luce). The tenants of “Pink House” building at 7137 Main St. wish to renew their lease. La Bella Luce’s lease would expire at the end of the year. The motion to approve the renewal was approved.

7. New Business:

  • Authorization to Execute Fairfax County Permit Applications for Construction Phase of Clifton Creek Park (Floodplain): The town council will discuss this at a special meeting.
  • Review of Easement Documents from CBA and NVCT for Clifton Creek Park: The town council will discuss this at a separate meeting.
