Cuccinelli Campaign Responds to McAuliffe's Speech in Springfield

McAuliffe spoke to a crowd of volunteers and supporters Sunday during the grand opening of the 2013 Democratic campaign office in Springfield.

After Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe spoke to a crowd of supporters and volunteers in Springfield Sunday, the Ken Cuccinelli campaign issued a statement in response to McAuliffe's comments on legislation and growing the economy in Virginia.

"Terry McAuliffe will do and say anything to get elected, including taking credit for legislation he had nothing to do with and launching false and negative attacks on Ken Cuccinelli," read the statement. "Ken continues to be the only candidate in this race running on substantive policy that will grow the economy, create jobs, and ease regulatory burdens on middle-class families."

During his speech at the opening of the Democratic campaign office in Springfield, McAuliffe spoke about transportation and education in Virginia as well as women's health. Attorney general candidate Mark Herring also spoke on women's issues and the importance of having the right person in the position of attorney general in Virginia.

McAuliffe will face off in the first debate against Ken Cuccinelli July 20. Also in the Virginia gubernatorial race is Libertarian Robert Sarviswho officially joined the race in June.
