Del. Hugo, Community Investigate Missing Safety Signal at School

The delegate was asked by residents to investigate the loss of the 'wink-o-matic' at Willow Springs Elementary.

Delegate Tim Hugo (R-40th) has called a meeting of concerned community members, Fairfax County Public Schools, the Virginia Department of Transportation, Fairfax County Police and local politicians to discuss the loss of the wink-o-matic safety signal at the Braddock Road entrance to Willow Springs Elementary School.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept, 6, at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Residents noticed the safety lights missing from the intersection just week's before the start of school, according to the delegate's staff. It is not yet clear who ordered them removed.

In a letter inviting leaders to the meeting, Del. Hugo said, "...many of you are aware, the removal of the 'wink-o-matic' lights have resulted in the school’s community reaching out to me to seek additional safety measures at that intersection."

Patch will attend and report on the meeting.
