EXCLUSIVE: Behind the Scenes at the New Fort Belvoir Community Hospital Part 2

The Eagle and River Pavilions

Since Base Realignment and Closing (BRAC) was announced several years ago, the new Fort Belvoir Community Hospital has been the centerpiece of the construction effort at Fort Belvoir.

At an estimated cost of $1.03 billion the hospital is separated into five pavilions (named River, Eagle, Oaks, Sunrise and Meadow) and two parking garages. The complex can only be described as state-of-the-art, and it is filled with evidence-based design features that must be seen to be appreciated. The project has attracted interest from engineers and architects from across the globe.

The hospital is on schedule to open on August 10. Until now, the only way for the general public to get a look at the progress of the inside of the hospital was the occasional photo from the hospital’s Flickr stream.
