It's Official: Roessler Named Chief Of Police

Lt. Col. Edwin C. Roessler, Jr. was officially appointed as chief of police today by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. He's been the acting chief since march, when Lt Col. James Morris was appointed police chief of the Town of Vienna.

Roessler, a 24-year veteran of the force, is a Centreville resident and started his career with the New York City Department of Investigation. His first post in Fairfax County was as a patrolman, and subsequent positions include leading the Animal Control division, director of the Criminal Justice Academy and deputy chief of Patrol, according to his FCPD bio.

Roessler's annual salary as chief is $188,410.
