Concerned About Full-Day Kindergarten?

Group holds meeting tonight to push for full-day kindergarten at all Fairfax County schools

A group of concerned Fairfax County parents is fighting to ensure that full-day kindergarten is available to all students in the county, including 37 county kindergartens that are currently only half-day programs.

(For a list of the schools, scroll to the bottom of this story.)

If you would like to weigh in on this topic, there is a meeting scheduled for tonight (Tuesday) at 7:30 at the City of Fairfax Regional Library, 10360 North Street. The meeting is billed as the "Equity in Education for Full Day Kindergarten Summit."

The event will feature several speakers and county representatives in attendance; that list includes Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair Sharon Bulova, as well as county Supervisors Cook and Foust.

The group organizing the event, Fairfax for Full Day Kindergarten, has a Facebook page which anyone can "like" or join. It currently has a petition, which can be accessed here.
