Fairfax Station College Student Finalist for Scholarship

Victoria Awadalla was nominated.

A Fairfax Station native was a finalist for a scholarship at James Madison University for her proposal on an outreach project in Mozambique.

Victoria Awadalla, a sophomore nursing student, was nominated for the inaugural Hillcrest Scholarship for her proposal to work at an orphanage.

Awadalla was among seven finalists selected from 15 applicants vying for the $7,500 scholarship. The scholarship was established by the Honors Advisory Council for the school. Proposals were judged on the project, academic achievements, and potentials.

Awadalla had planned to work with an organization called BeLove and work with an orphanage for two months in developing a training manual for mothers connected to the orphanage.

The winner of the scholarship was Michelle Amaya, who proposed attending a global health immersion program in Bolivia. She will implement the project during the summer between their third and final undergraduate year.
